The staff/child ratio depends on the age of the child. Regulations state the following:
Under 2 years – 1 staff member to every 3 children.
Under 3 years – 1 staff member to every 4 children.
3 to 5 years – 1 staff member to every 8 children.
Bright Star Nursery will always meet and go beyond the requirements.
Nappies and wipes are included in the fees for children aged 0-2.
There is always a senior member of staff on duty at all times of the day. Staff will only hand over children at the end of the session to people who have previously been authorised to collect the child and are known to them.
No child will be allowed to leave with anyone without prior arrangements having not been made.
We have a settling in procedure that is flexible enough to recognise that children need different levels of support during this time. We have an open door policy for parents with children at Bright Star allowing you to visit whenever you wish.
Great emphasis is placed on security and nobody is allowed in the nursery if they are unknown to the staff. Visitors are by strict appointment only. Bright Star Nursery has an extensive CCTV and secure door system to ensure maximum security.
